I'm currently reading Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides, it's a fantastic book about a family of Greek migrants that came to America from a tiny Greek village at the turn of the 20th century. The village they came from was so small families often married within their own family and it's about the consequences this can have. A brilliant book and SO readable. I recommend!

I'm currently reading A Suitable Boy by Vikarm Seth. Its an amazing read. But i read the Time Travellers Wife going back about two years ago and i absolutely loved that! I would definitely recommend both of these books, the latter of the two being the "lighter read"
Wanted to read the abortionists daughter for ages, read it and absolutely hated it. It was so badly written with spelling mistakes and the story was all over the place (for example you find out who's voice was on the answering machine, then a couple of pages on it said "and they still didn't know who's voice was on the machine"!!!
So there you go two recommendations and a one you should stay away from!

Just started Empire of the Dragons by Valerio Massimo Manfredi. Read a few of his and they are good. Set in ancient Greece or Rome they are good stories set against the backdrop of real history, such as Spartan which was based around the battle of Thermopyle. A recent book I would Recomend is Vulcan 607 by Roland White, the true story of the bombing of Port Stanley Airfield during the Falklands war.

I never read just one book at a time, I always have two or three on the go. Reading is a matter of personal taste, of course, but I have just finished Stephen King's recent book Cell and can highly reccomend it.Mind you, it makes you nervous every time you use a mobile phone - or cell phones as the Americans call them- afterwards! Also can highly recomend, A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving. Once you've met Owen you'll never forget him.

I'm about halfway through "A History of the Middle Ages" by Joseph Dahmus. If you like the Middle Ages, it's an excellent and actually quite entertaining read.
He begins with decline of the Roman Empire and works forward from there, with a lot of detail regarding the nomadic tribes that swept across Europe as well as early church and monastery history. Good stuff!!

I am not reading anything at the moment, which is really unusual for me. The last book I read was Michael Connelly's Echo Park, it is one of the Harry Bosch series and I thought it was really good. I would recommend it if you have read the others in the series. Michael Connelly is a great author. My fav is Jodi Picoult though and I would definately recommend My sisters keeper or The pact.

I'm currently reading Hokkaido Highway Blues by Will Ferguson. It's a travel memoir - a Canadian English teacher ion Japan decided to hitchhike from the southern tip of Japan to the northern tip and follow the cherry blossoms. I've found it to be funny and interesting, and a different look at Japanese culture. I'd recommend it.

I'm reading Inkspell by Cornelia Funke, its the second book of a trilogy. The first one was entitled Inkheart. I would recommend it to people who have a lot of imagination and like to think that there could be other 'worlds'. The books are about a man who can read people in and out of the book he is reading aloud. I loved the idea!
