Can someone please help me with naming alcohols that have more than one hydroxyl group? what is it called when there are two hydroxyl groups?

I have a diagram with what could be cyclohexanol but there are two hydroxyl groups, what is this called?

I need it for my chemistry exam tomorrow

when there are two hydroxyl groups, it is named ending in "diol".

if you say u have somthg which is like cyclohexanol but with 2 hydroxyl groups, you can call it cyclohexandiol.
notice the position of the hydroxyl group, it can be 1,2-cyclohexandiol or 1,3-cyclohexandiol or 1,4-cyclohexandiol.
find the number for the position of the hydroxyl group that make it the smaller number possible.

for example, instead of 1,6-cycloexandiol, it must be named 1,2-cyclohexandiol.
instead of 1,5-cyclohexandiol, it must be named 1,3-cyclohexandiol.

the maximum (furthest) position for 2 hydroxyl groups in a cyclohexanol is 1,4-cyclohexandiol.

hope u do the best in yr exam.

You have to give us the structure, otherwise we can't say.

If it is an alcohol with 2 -OH, then you just put the number of the carbon atoms which carry the -OH and the ending diol. (If the name is simple and you don't have other groups you should put the numbers at the beginning of the name, otherwise after the diol).

E.g. HO-CH2-CH2-CH2-OH would be 1,3-propanediol
