I don't remember where the use of the PINK RIBBON comes from. I think it started with a campaign for funds against cancer, but now you can see it used for a lot of things and I don't understand. Thanks.

i think its associated wtih breast cancer awareness.

The first ribbon was red for aids awareness

it is an awareness-raising tool usable by people across the world. now there are ribbons in other colors for different causes.

recently the color wristband has become popular also as an awareness-raising tool, it was first use by the Lance Armstrong Foundation for its LIVESTRONG campaign (yellow wristband) on cancer awareness and has since been adobpted by many other charitable organisation such as the Make Poverty History campaign which uses a red and a white wristband.

The pink ribbon is the breast cancer symbol. You may notice it more in your recent past because October is breast cancer awareness month and it's become a very popular cause. Thanks for noticing, anyway you can put your 2 cents in can help. There are very few people in the world that have not been touched by breast cancer in some way.

I see someone above said that breast cancer awareness month is in Feb. which is incorrect. It is October. Although, the end of Feb. is when you will notice cancer of all types being "promoted" bad word, but lack of better right now. Anyway, Feb. starts the "promotion" of cancer awareness, preparing for millions to walk the "Relay of Life".

Yes, it's on lots of products. And I think it is still supposed to mean that a portion of the funds are being donated to breast cancer research. But you have to make sure that it's a real company doing it - some are probably fakes.

In February you'll see more since it's Breast Cancer Awareness Month ...

I think it was a sign of breast cancer survivors - or sympathy with breast cancer survivors. Personally, I think it is just attention whoredom at its worst. I mean really, who is in FAVOR of breast cancer?
