They have not, so far. And I think this serious loss to the foreign auto makers will be more in near future.

Why the American auto makers do not improve the quality of their products? Are they going to? If not, then what are the problems that make them not being able to do so?

Actually, a recent report stated that American auto makers have improved quality to be within a small window of their Japanese rivals.
The perception however is that there is still a wide gap.

It isn't.

It is interesting that Americans are so boastful about being a true blue god fearing American but please just don't ask them to buy american.

in that case they immediately think/want global
