Having knowledge and having the understanding are two different things. Have you ever heard someone in their 30's say " If I knew then what I know now" , What is known as 20-20 hindsight, we all wish we had it. The act of doing something like Murder to a 15 year old and being considered an adult doesn't automatically make him an adult. And having SEX at 15 definitely doesn't make you an adult. The law is mean't to protect our young people from sex predators. The law is also there to protect society from juvenile offenders, when it comes to crimes like murder. Comparing the two acts is not fair. Just a personal note...Sex should not be confused with making love. They are two distinctly different acts. Children are not equipped to handle all that goes along with an intimate relationship, and 15 is still a child. They (meaning all the 15 year olds) won't realize this fact for about 15 years and then look back and say "you were right".

In legal standings, a 15 year old can be certified to stand trial as an adult. However, the only thing he cannot recieve is the death penalty. Most cases are certified because it is the common belief that he/she should be old enough to know the difference about right and wrong. However, in rare cases, he is tried as a juvenile.
With respect to sex, as a 15 year old, he can be charged with a felony if he is caught with girls only 1 or 2 years younger than he is--and in some states, even if the girl is 1-2-3 years OLDER than he is. That charge is statutory rape, and carries with it penalties including prison. So, in that sense, he is not so immature. But at 15, he really cannot hold a job, and there is where he is considered such. Only legal option for a 15 year old in this situation is emancipated minor status. But, this is usually advised against. Also, at 15, one is usually considered emotionally immature, and there is another reason for the label.

It sounds as though someone has influenced your thoughts enough to confuse individual cases across our country. Sometimes adults say irrational statements out of fear. They tend to lash out which is very contrary with double standards all over the "page". However, in most cases the adult in question usually has such a longing to express his and or her impressions they too make mistakes. Know what you believe to be true and maybe you can express yourself that will not lead others into confusion.

Put things on the table, you are 15, ok?, and you will live already 65 years, and your parents and society have been teaching you differences between "evil" and "good" all your life, right? But when they care to teach you about sex? Already 3 or 2 or 1 year, months? Well everybody thinks that you have enough life to learn by yourself about the only fact that everybody is afraid to face because almost everyone of us made it way wrong. But It's true, you will learn.

No, it's not a double standard. A CHILD of that age knows right from wrong. They know that it is wrong to murder someone. You cannot compare a murderous teen to a promiscuous teen. They are on two totally different planes. Yes, they are old enough to know right from wrong, but at the same time, their hormones are in an outrage! It's such an awkward age. I'm assuming you are in fact 15, and I can guarantee you when you are older you will understand. Enjoy your youth. It won't be around forever.

Your mind is mature enough to understand "killing is bad" mmkay? Where as when having sex you seem to deem it apropriate at this young age and it simply is not. You do not understand protection and when you realise it feels better with no condom you do not use one. 15 year old girls unless their parents get them on birth control cannot just go out and get their own birth control. Therefor we end up with pregnant teens. It's like an 8 year old with a bag of candy- you think the kid is going to stop at one piece like he's supposed to? No.
