Alright, I'm 18 and go to NYU CAS, not Tisch. I really began to get interested in theatre when I was in middle school, although a bad YMCA production of Peter Pan and a bad audition for a school musical kept me from doing much theatre. My high school had a poor drama program. But I fell in love with musical theatre in high school, even though I did marching band instead. I was thinking about what I wanted to do with my life a couple days ago, and I realized that what I really wanted to do was perform on Broadway. I took dance lessons for six years but quit when I moved and couldn't find a decent studio. I was so intimidated by my friends who'd been taken voice lessons for years that I never tried to sing myself. Now I realize that that was rediculous, and I'm looking for information on vocal lessons. I was wondering if anyone had any advice? I realize that there's a good chance that I'd never make it to Broadway, but there's no hurt trying. And I'll have my degree in something else..

There is an old adage, "a writer writes."
This means that in spite of lack of inspiration, writer's block, no one wanting to read your work -- you write.
To be an actor -- one must act. It's work, like a job. Actor's hone their craft by taking classes in acting, singing and dancing. They take workshops, they audition, they make commercials and do voice-overs.
There are lot of people who'd like to be stars. The good one's make it look easy.
To make it to b'way, you'll need the skills required -- acting singing and dancing. And you'll need to stand out next to the 100 other people trying out for that job.
Smile a lot, it helps.

Honey, I am trying to get at the same dream as well! Belivev in yourself and the rest will follow. Here is my story. I began taking singing lessons when I was sveen years old. I am still taking them now. I auditioned for a singing troupe four years in a row! They were so picky! I have a great voice, I am told and love the arts! Yet, I fet like I was a failure. Then an audtion paper for the locl 'giant' thatre group slipped into my very hands. I auditioned and got a small part! I took this small part and acted as if I was the star! They noticed and I am doing plays still. Keep trying, never give up, & NEVER LOSE SIGHT OF YOUR DREAMS! I wish you the best of luck in all you do!

ya, totally go for it!! keep trying out for plays, and you'll get the parts you get, AKA you'll get the parts your right for. it may be a lead, you may have one line, but the world will go on. when you feel ready, you dont need to feel confindent, just ready, audition for a broadway play, on the first one you audition, just try out for a small part, cuz you'll have to be rehearsing all the time and on top of all that memorize your lines in the few free time you'll have, so that way, you wont have many to memorize as many lines. good luck and GO FOR IT!!

Dear, I don't know much about theater, but I know one thing " Lady Luck only favor the braves". work hard and keep yours eyes on what ever you want to achieve in life; you succeed or not is nothing to bother about now. practice. now repeat a billion times. if ur passionate about wut ur doing, it wont be boring. also, sing , dance, & act as much as possible. also, try attending broaday shows and auditions- start w/ the familiar stuff 1st- itll b easier.
