If you converted them to MPEG2, use something like MPEG-Tools to merge / append them together.

Search at videohelp.com under tools for similar tools.

you can open them up as chapters in a dvd author ... as long as they are split and dont overlap in the middle they will play sequentially and uninterrupted ... thats the way i usually do it for dvd, its completely unecessary to join them... you can also join them beforehand if u must... use virtualdub for avi and tmpgencs' mpeg tools for mpeg .. the most simple way is to open both pieces up in winavi then convert but theres less menu options that way if ur making a dvd ...

copy both the parts into one folder
use nero
when prompted to add files
put both the files
and burn

Nero7 will let you stitch them, no probs.
