She may have left in the first place because she didn't want to have to rely on you. Now, however, she can see that you rely on her too. This means that the relationship is two sided. She may have thought you proposed just to take care of her and her kids and might have felt guilty about being a burden.
Sometimes having someone go though a near death experience changes your perspective on life. So, if you want to marry her and she wants to marry you, get engaged, wait a year and by then you'll know if her change of heart is real or just overwrought emotions caused by extreme circumstances.

Well, I honestly can't tell you what is in her heart or her intentions. Love is an unexpected thing and it is a chance that every person takes when they find a partner. If you are now questioning her loyalty then perhaps marriage is not a good idea. Because it's a serious step to take and you are with that person for life. So if you question your trust in her then it could be a troubled marriage at the beginning.
Take some time. You will find the answer eventually but don't rush in.

why don't you open up to each other? and try to ask her to answer your questions as truthfully as possible. Tell her that you want a marriage made out of love and not out of guilt 'coz in the long run it'll just be both of you who will suffer if there is some truth hidden at the beginning of the marriage. And the casualties for bitter marriages are always the children.
Communicate in order to understand and before you do that ask God (or whoever supreme being you are believing in) for the grace to understand and accept whatever the outcome is.
Invite her over sometime and talk heart to heart.

Pull the same crap? You ungrateful bas****. She moved out because she wasn't on the same page. That's not crap, it's honest. So what do you do? Well, I think it's pretty crappy of you to pull a stroke to get her to come back. Seriously, you're probably right, she feels sorry for you and guilty. Get back on your feet and if you recover fully, then let's see where this whole thing stands. No need to rush, unless she sees a quick opportunity to collect on some life insurance.

Maybe she realized what she almost lost for good and decided that you don't often get many second chances. It is possible she was nervous or unsure of herself and that is why she left.
Talk to her, ask her why she left and ask her why she decided to come back. Communication is the greatest asset in any relationship. Be honest with her, tell her about the mixed signals she is sending and how they make you feel. If she truly loves you and wants to be with you then the two of you should be able to talk about anything and resolve any issues either of you may have prior to saying vows.
Good Luck!

Maybe its as simple as she got scared but when you got ill she realized how much you meant to her and she is not willing to let you go over her fear. What do you honestly feel. If you have questions over this then you need to ask her straight up about her feelings and see how she answers you.
