But when you think about it, isn't that what being American is all about? Complaining about what you don't like.
I do take your point though, I feel they should try to learn English and some of our customs but at the same time they should preserve their
own heritage.
Just because you move to another street doesn't mean you didn't live on another one before. Same thing really. Everybody likes to
carry a little piece of home even if it's a former home with them.
America is opportunity and freedom of speech.
So we should all make the most of it and be
grateful that what we often take for granted
exists in this country.

For the same reason as Americans go abroad and complain and talk about how great America is. Stay there then!
I think it's just natural for people (of all nationalities) to complain. Everyone does it sometimes.

The same reason people move next to airports or race tracks then complain about the noise....the same reason people build churches in neighborhoods that "need" religion, then complain about the adult shop next door...because it's America, and we're free to do so!

I really think in a lot of cases they had different expectations of the U.S based on what they saw in movies and television....or deduced from music.
Guys being the main culprit.
Thought they were going to get a lot of chicks.
Reality hit them in the face.
Now they are angry.
Recent immigrants from certain countries scream that America is unfair because they weren't given thier Cadillacs and sharkskin suits when they crossed the border.
"why do we have to do the crummy jobs?"
That is the recent and unskilled immigrants fate in America.
Been that way for hundreds of years.
Every Major immigrant group has had to endure that for the first generation.
Lately though
When immigrants from certain countries send their born in America children start their first day of school unable to speak English....the blame gets placed on AMERICA.

Good point. According to Reader's Digest, New York tended to be the most courteous city in the world. Even over place in the Philippines and Singapore! (I mean helping you if you dropped something sort of thing...)
