Since Tom Brady is Mr. Reliable, it's hard to know if any of the back up quarterbacks can get the job done. Is Matt Cassel just a warm body, or is he worth grooming? Where does Cassel fit in now that Testaverde is signed?

Their signing of Testaverde was a mystery. Senior backup quarterbacks are like second coaches and maybe they brought him in to help Cassel. Cassel has not been permitted to do much for the Patriots, but maybe they're trying to get him up to speed in case, Heaven forbid, something happened to Brady.
Remember that it was unthinkable that anything could happen to Bledsoe and the unknown Tom Brady came along and won the Super Bowl. Maybe speeding up Cassel's training is insurance against something like that happening to Brady.

Cassel doesn't have any real place in the Patriots besides being a Backup QB, unless Something should happen to Tom like it did with Drew, Matt might as well get used to carving out his initials in to the benches of the NFL. They signed Testaverde probably to help Cassel and to see if something should happen to Tom they can use Cassel effectively.

Brady still has at the least 7 great years left if not more. So I see Cassel leaving with in next 3 to 4 years

just a warm body. nothing's going to happen to tom brady, not anytime soon. it's good to have a back up thou, you never know.
