It's impossible to not ruin the value if you clean the coin. It's best to not clean it.

Go to a coin store. They have special things that you clean coins with. Please don't use anything that would ruin the value.

I wouldn`t attempt to clean it with anything if ur thinking of selling it, a dealer knows the value of it, as is........not based on it being shiny. If its just dirty, maybe wiping it with a plain water dampened cloth wouldn`t hurt, but I`d hesitate in using any type of chemical or household product.

Something corrosive but not too corrosive. I have heard coke works alright.

put it in vinegar! i swear it works! in 1 minute it will be so shiny! i did it in a science experiment a month ago.
