You can start at any age. It's called perimenopause. Here r some symptoms to look for:
Changes in pattern of periods (can be shorter or longer, lighter or heavier, more or less time between periods)
Hot flashes (sudden rush of heat in upper body)
Night sweats (hot flashes that happen while you sleep), often followed by a chill
Trouble sleeping through the night (with or without night sweats)
Vaginal dryness
Mood changes, feeling crabby (probably because of lack of sleep)
Trouble focusing, feeling mixed-up or confused
Hair loss or thinning on your head, more hair growth on your face
When you visit your doctor, take along a diary about what’s happening with your period. For a few months before your visit, record when your period starts and stops each day, and indicate whether it is light of heavy. Also note any other symptoms you have.
Good luck

You can go into what is called perimenopause in your 30's, but it's a rare thing. You will notice changes in your sleeping habits (waking, night sweats, trouble falling and staying asleep), your periods will become heavier or sometimes lighter or sometimes a little of both and irregular. You may have longer or shorter periods or miss months all together. You will finds yourself a little more irritable and you may experience vaginal dryness when having intercourse. I went into perimenopause in my early 40's and finally had to have a hysterectomy because of some severe problems that I was having. I am not saying that this will happen with you, so don't worry, it was just the problems I was having. I think if you were to ask a doctor about going into menopause in your early 30's, he would be a bit concerned and may want to put you on some hormones or something to get you back on a more normal schedule. Early 30's is too soon to go into menopause. Check with your GYN.

One good sign if you're going through menopause is hot flashes and mood swings. Yes, I know a few friends on mine who went through menopause in their 30's.
