how can I protect the database from hacker?

I am do ing a small commercial directory website. I afraid that some user might use the script to 'hack' and 'copy' & 'paste' my database. So, I try to protect the database by show it in the form of jpeg file, but it takes too much time for user to wait for loading. What should I do?

Use Java applets in your website. It cant be copy and paste from website and it is faster.you need a professional java programmer to do that.
