Last time I checked, Charles Xavier inherited an estate from his Mother. It was in the Millions. The amount of money he would need to operate the X-Men's operation, would be huge. Just to establish the operation, had to have cost hundreds of millions of dollars.

Comic book continuity, states that he is secretly funded by wealthy men and women who are either mutants themselves or support Xaviers cause. Given the amount of traveling the X-Men do, the facilites and equipment they use, I'd estimate Xaviers opperation costs at least 10 million dollars a year, just to keep running.

Why that figure? Glad you asked. Repairing and fueling aircraft isn't cheap. Not to mention, Xavier would probably have to bribe a lot of people, or at least his supporters have to throw a lot of money around to keep things quiet. The techknowledgy he uses, is definitly military level. I suppose Forge (the mutant who can make any thing mechanical), would have helped Xavier a lot. Having brilliant people like Henry Mckoy/Beast, would help a lot.

Materials aren't cheap. He's got at least 20 bedrooms in the mansion with an equal amount of students. Providing food, clothing, shelter, and wages (the X-Men get paid), isn't cheap either. Xavier's got to pay property tax on that huge estate, the electrical bill has got to be enormous, grounds maintainence, Medical fees (accept for Wolverine of course), etc.

The generally-accepted excuse among (cybical) fans is that Professor X reads the minds of CEO's of Fortune 5000 companies and makes loads of money on the stock market.

Considering how it would cost millions each time the X Men tore up the Danger Room, he can't possibly be making his money legally, and he would have used up any inheritance long ago. (Unless he was as rich as Bill Gates, in which case his family would have been famous before his telepathy manifested in his teens, and he would never have been able to erase the memories of that many people, to have privacy.)

He probably uses the same construction firm that Luthor and Dr. Doom and all those other guys use to build their 'secret' bases hidden under skyscrapers in the middle of cities, etc., "where nobody could ever find them."

And he must have mind-raped everybody that ever worked for him, since there are no records of the Danger Room, etc., all the subterranean complexes under the mansion, asoasf. Maybe he just made them all think they got paid for it, or made them forget that they took the contract. Butthen he'd also have to mind-rape their accountants, and the IRS, and he's not THAT powerful.

I wish I could figure out how they do it in these comic books! Then I could do the same thing.

In New X-Men #129, Fantomex mentioned that Xavier is a billionaire with a net worth of 3.5 billion dollars

Think about it - Professor X was a telepath, all he has to do is get near a very rich person, convince them that funding his school is a good idea, and BINGO BANGO - he's got all the money he needs, and he can rationalize it as being not for himself, but for the children..... or take the money from drug lords and master crime bosses if that soothes his morality.
