I get in trouble so much at work, you want to know why? Because I am not a "Team Player". That means that I do not agree 100% with my bosses 100% of the time. Therefore I am a troublemaker, and get into trouble. If a boss tells me to go do something stupid and wasteful I may complain about it to the boss. (I'm not very smart). The boss tells the team to go do something and if you don't agree with the team meaning your boss you are not a team player.

HA. Good question.
Because being a 'team player' you will not dob in the boss to his wife when he brings his mistress on the business trip.
Being a 'team player' you will not even blink when the company is involved in questionable business practices. Think Enron.
Being a 'team player' can invariably mean giving up a little bit of your soul for the 'good of the company'. Think Monsters Inc.!

Maybe they don't want their dog to get eaten. Seriously, even in a dog-eat-dog organization, team players are valuable because they can work together under stressful conditions. Something like Survivor.....
