Of course natural birth is painful. If you baby is bigger than 5-6Lbs you are really going to feel it. My son was 1 1.2 weeks late and 8 1/2Lbs. I wasn't able to have an epidural because the needle wasn't going in right and after 8 tries everyone including me gave up on that idea. They gave me demerol and gravol around 11pm and my son was born 3:16am the following morning. I had/has a nice round head, but it hurt like hell pushing it out, he also has mommy's broad shoulders, lucky me. He ripped me and again lucky me the pain killers were wearing off right before they started stitching up the tear with 12 stitches.
You can wait as long as you are comfortable with but don't think you have to be wonder woman and do it with no help at all. If you feel you need the help of drugs let your nurse know, but don't go in there with your mine set that you are going to take the epidural right away either. See how it goes, you never know, your body might just surprise you in the end.
Good luck, you may have more than a week still. Only a fraction of women actually go into labour on their due date.

Yes it is painful, they can give you something to take the edge off or you can have an epidoral. I would recommend the second one. I can honestly say that as soon as the baby comes out the pain is gone. So just remember there is light at the end of the tunnel. If you get cramps from your period times that by 10.. congradulations, and good luck with labor...

Yes, birth is painful, but it's the pressure of the baby passing through your hips that got me. Whew! The contractions sucked, but that is what drugs are for. My 1st son got stuck and I tore basically a new as*hole, but I think with all the drugs it wasn't too painful. Wisdom teeth extraction hurt worse. If you want a natural birth, go for it, but don't get over stressed to the point where you hurt yourself or the baby.

Don't let anyone pressure you into doing it any certain way. See if you can take it naturally if that's what you want and if you can't take it, ask for an epidural. Remember - no one else is doing the work, it's your body and so it is your decision. (I got an epidural after being induced and have a very good memory of childbirth...very little pain and able to talk and laugh with my husband and the nurse comfortably throughout.)

To be honest, yes, it is painful.
Having said that ... I had a baby at 17, and I was fearing the worst. It turned out that it wasn't quite as bad as I thought it would be. But it was still painful.
Hopefully you've spoken to your doctor about options such as painkillers.
Congratulations, and hang in there ... it's almost over. The pregnancy, I mean. Then something new begins -- motherhood!

Sweetheart it really depends on the pregnancy.
For me it wasn't painful much until i reached 8 cm. When i got to the hospital i was 5 cm and my labor felt like bad bloating cramps. i had no idea i was in labor it was my prenatal appt.
Anyway, all while i was pregnant i said i refuse to get an epidoral. No matter what i would try to give birth natural and i did. i did my deep breathing. ( never took lamaze classes but deep breathing always help any type of pain)
My pain was bareable. I did get a sedative but it wasn't a needle in my back. i forget the name of it.
Good Luck to yoou hun. Please relax try to stay calm. Remember to try to stay as calm as possible it will help your blood pressureandheart rate breath deep breaths when you go in labor hun. I wish you the best. Who will be there with you? You should have support. If i was around where you are i would try to help you. It helps to have support and someone in the delivery that will help you like rub your back and stuff like that. I really wish you the best. Stay calm.

Yes! I did a epidural w/ my daugheter & can still rember screaming (during 4 hours of pushing( yo my OB to just reach in & take her out. But w/ my second, my water broke & 2 hours later I was holding my baby boy, no pain meds. evrything went smooth & very fast. The second was alot easier. Best advice is to stay calm & handle things as they happen, realize your birth plan is not in stone & things happen at their own pace. Good Luck

yes it is painful but the thought of holding your new little bundle of joy and knowing that whenever you are feeling lonely and your husband or boyfriend is at work or not their, you can cuddle your small miracle, it becomes relieving. when you look your child in the eye, the joy and love will overpower all pain (for a moment anyway). you get alot of rest after the birth so that's good.
good luck with the rest of the pregnancy. ^-^

Yes, there is no way of getting out of the pain. an epidural is only given after the mandatory 6 hour pushing limit, IV's only help a little. pregnancy and Delivery are painful, be prepared with lemmas, your coach's support, and ice, juice, and someone to give you a massage.

i was terrified of my birth of my first baby. when i went into labour my body knew just what to do, i had a drug free labour, no tearing also. just go with the flow, and it should be fine.
the contractions i could breathe through, but the head coming out, hurt so much. like getting fisted, but you obviously cant say no. remember the drugs are there, though not the best for baby.
