I have with great success used an iron and an old wet towel. It's the hot steam that does the trick.
What you need is to get an old towel wet and place it over the stain. Not soaking wet but, damp wet. Take the iron on a low setting and iron over the wet towel. You may have to do this more than once. And, remember to move to a clean area of the old towel each time so as to not put the stain back into the rug. This has worked for me on all kinds of stains and spills. It's even worked on stains the rug company couldn't get out.
Good luck to you.

first try special carpet stuff thats ment to get stains out.
then try a light colored soda.
when all else fails, get stanley steamer!

also try a wet towel and a iron. but keep the iron on a low setting and move the towel around until it comes out.
