Before going to San diego, 1 bought 2 maps but found them not that complete. It isnt like San Francsico in which you see everything & go by yourself downtown. I had bought a more complete map there but you need magnifying lens to appreciate it. Residents of the place staying there for 20 years gets lost downtown.
I have to ride the trolley to understand the whole of San Diego, the place is spread all over. Ride all the trolley cars. You can drop to the different stops and see the features of each especially the malls. There are bus stops for most trolley stations. Be sure to park you car carefully or better leave it in your hotel.
Go to the themeparks like San Diego Zoo and Sea World. Be sure to be there on time for the shows. There are drinks which you can buy and refill for the whole day & serve as souvenir later on. Be sure to bring a hat or an umbrella or a sunglass.
Go to the Balboa Park & explore it. See also Coronado bridge, which is one of the tallest in the world. It was given an award because of its structure. It gives you a spectacular view of the place. Dont forget to see the Coronado Hotel which is one of the best not only in the USA but also in the world.
Go to the last AMERICAN EXIT at San Isidro. There is an outlet store there. There are tours at the University of California-San Diego, see their website.
Go to Carlsbad and see Legoland. They have strawberry fields. However, this depends on the season. Oceanside has a nice view!
San Diego has a nice weather year round. I was there for 2 months earlier this year. Visit the Harbor View. Mariott Hotel has a spectacular view of that place.
