I go barefoot as much as possible, even in snow and ice. The only exception is when the snow is more than 6 inches deep, then I wear flip flop sandals. I can easily go 2 hours barefoot in the snow, 3 hours w/ sandals, and my feet don't ever get frostbite from it.

Yes absolutely, I'm lucky to live in Australia where we can go barefoot everywhere all the time.

It gets a bit below freezing here sometimes, and I still go barefoot year-round. It's much more comfortable -yes, even in the snow- and not dangerous, unhealthy or gross as many people in the US believe it to be. Feet quickly get a lot tougher than most people think, our skin is made to keep pathogens out, and feet are fully washable. And keeping the rest of my body warmly dressed, I've been able to go barefoot in winter with actually *less* cold toes and numbness than I had when I still wore footwear... rubber riding boots were the worst, they provide little warmth but due to being pretty stiff the circulation to your toes would be less than when you're barefoot and your toes, foot, ankle and everything can move freely. I remember many a time I felt like I had just ten little pebbles in front of my boots and it hurt like h-ll warming up; I've never had numb/painful toes near that bad when barefoot in winter. I do take footwear along when temps are below freezing, just in case I get stuck somewhere, but I only resorted to it a handful of times in my first winters of being barefoot. Haven't needed it at all for several years now.
