Lack of sleep in children can cause serious
health problems. If parents follow some simple
techniques for making their children sleep,
it can be avoided. I found useful information

Hunny I feel for ya!! My four month old had me up ALL night last night and I thought it was going to be another all nighter but she finally fell asleep a little while ago! She's also been sick lately.

Have you tried Tylenol or Bendadrl (I know I'm messing up the spelling but its 230am and I dont really care) to treat the fever? Usually that has a side effect of making them sleepy. So your son will feel better plus you get some sleep!

Good luck and I hope he feels better soon!

As for the caff... the only problem with that is if he does go to sleep and you are too wired from the caffeine you'll have problems getting to sleep (like me right now!!)

If he is still up and you have some allergy meds for children like Benadryl. It is the best. Give him the dose he would take. It want hurt him and it is safe. Had a doctor once to tell me to give my year old a dose of Benadryl when I was sick and needed rest. It want hurt him if you do it every once in a while. He will go to sleep in about 30 mins. Don't give a child a sleeping pill ............;p
Never heard that one,but don't make a habit of the Benadryl either.
☺
If he has a fever try fever drops 1st and see if that makes him fall asleep. Sometime it will calm them down some. Good Luck

Depending on his age, you might try putting him in a swing (newborn to 1 year old), you might try putting him in a car seat and putting it on top of the washing machine but DON'T leave him alone there (1 yr to 2 yrs old), or you might try taking him for a car ride if able for about 30 minutes (2 to 3 yrs old). After that, I'd let him scream it out, throw a tantrum, and put himself to sleep. If he's not hungry, not in need of changing, and not sick, then he's just trying to get attention - and when he's supposed to be asleep, and you NEED sleep, he's acting out, it's not unusual, young children do not have any morals about doing whatever it takes to get attention. There's no need to punish him, just let him get it out of his system, while not giving him attention - it will let him know that he isn't going to get his way, and teach him to self-nurture and gain some independence.

Tell me, how old is your son? If he is a toddler try giving him half a pill of valerian, not valium! Valerian is a natural sleep aid.It helps! My oldest son was so hyper, he did'nt want to sleep or sit still. So each night I would cut half of valerian. It made him sleep, with no side effects. You can buy valerian root at any Health Food store, or GNC! Good luck, I know how it feels!

first, be calm. Don't get mad at him, take a couple deep breaths. Tell him that you are very tired, but do it nicely. Try turning on a movie and covering up with a blanket. Try gently massaging his back. Tell him a short story. If all else fails tell him to count as high as he can or see how long he can keep his eyes closed.

Depends on how old he is. If he is a baby, try rocking him to sleep. If he is older, make him go to bed and stay there. I have a friend with a toddler who never slept, and she finally put a baby gate in his doorway to keep him in his room so at least she could catch a few winks.
