Do you think the higher sex ration of men to women affects the country much?

I'm working on a project, and I'm wonderin if China's population higher population of male to female will affect China. Personally, I think it wont, in fact, I think it'll help China reduce the overpopulation. What do you think?

And also, can anyone tell me if the one child policy have an positive effect for China, for instance, abortion?

And do you think abortion is ethical or unethical?

These are all the things I need to find out for my project.

I remember reading something about another Asian country with a high male to female ratio. The result was that any girl born was a valuable commodity and her parents would ask men for extravagent things (money, possessions, etc.) so he could marry her. It got very competitive and had societal effects.
