I think that he without question ruined his career. Unlike Mel Gibson's screwup, Richards' was all caught on film. And from the looks of him on Letterman I would be worried about him possibly trying to commit suicide. Hopefully he has family there to comfort and support him during this terrible time in his life because I'm sure he is terribly depressed. I just hope that everyone realizes that they shouldn't quit loving the sweet character Kramer on Seinfeld just because of this. Remember that Richards and Kramer aren't the same person.

I think his career was kind of already over due to the fact that while he was on his tirade he sounded medicated or drunk, he sounded the very same way on david letterman. As for the racial tirade, I doubt hes a racist, and I find it hypocritical that so many people of different ethnicities can say whatever they want about asians, white people, and mexicans, yet say one nasty thing about a black person or a jew and suddenly youve gone too far. I think any kind of joke designed to hurt people is not funny and should not be done. Perhaps some people should think hard before laughing at a joke directed at another ethnic group and think how they would feel if the same were done to them.

If the NAACP and other ethnic groups are screaming, "Off with his head", I'd say it's unfortunate, but he might have sunk himself. There's three things to consider here. First, he's not a stand up comedian. He's an actor. He's not used to being onstage performing live. 2nd, the people in the audience that heckled him. They in fact, should have kept their mouths shut. Period! 3rd, Michael Richard's response after he was heckled goes back to my first point. He's an "actor" not a "stand up" comedian. It's unfortunate all the way around. Mel Gibson "was" one of America's favorite actors. After he made an antisemitic remark he all but sank his career. Michael Richards will rebound, and this would have been a valuable lesson for him, but people will look at him in a different light.

I think it was very stupid of him to say such things even though it was in a comedy club. But people make stupid mistakes and this guy is no exception. In the short term it will definitely hurt him but people in general are forgiving and when the next big contraversy hits the news, the heat on "Kramer" will subside.
Haven't we seen this kind of sensationalism before? This episode will also similarly die down and he will move on with his life. The smart thing for him to do now is keep his mouth shut and not get into any more trouble.

I think it's a double standard due to the fact that rappers say the "N" word (No I don't use it!!) every other word!! And you hear all these little hip hop clowns refer to themselves as it again every other word...I have no problem with the fact that he snapped and called them something they probably refered to themselves as all day long anyway....It was the comment that precipitated it
"If it was 50 years ago you'd be hanging upside down with a fork in your a*s" That blew my mind...
Something like that just doesn't roll off your tongue unless you've thought about it before..That was unbelievably offensive and crossed every there was to cross in my mind!! The dudes career has been dead for years. So I can't even say he buried himself with that comment...But he sure let people know where his mind lies..He's racist no if's ands or buts about it.

I doubt Richards got filthy rich working for Seinfeld...surely it's Seinfeld and his co-creator that made all the dough. His tirade will hurt his career. It won't kill it, but it will hurt...bad. When words like that come out, it's because you really think that way. It's a stigma from here on.
By the way...I wish him all the worst.

I think he messed up his personal life because now friends and acquaintances will know that he's probably racist. But as far as his career, I don't think he was doing much now other than small stand up gigs. He didn't have much of a show business career left.
