My feet hurt all the way from my heals to my arches.. Does anyone know what to do about this. Everyone says I will just get used to it, but the more often I do it the worse off it is.

Make sure that you have comfortable shoes to start with which are suitable for you to stand in for a long period of time. If you're having to stand on concrete, see if you can find a carpet or a piece of padding to stand on instead of standing directly on the concrete. There are companies which manufacture matting made specifically for this situation.

Check to see if you can find a pair of insoles to go inside your shoes, that will also help ease some of the pain of standing there for 9 hours.

Try to make sure that you move around a little bit, stretch your feet. Do toe lifts. We used to do those in marching band. Basically, lift yourself up onto your toes to strengthen the arch of your foot.

Plus, you can always do that footsoak in epsom salts.

If nothing else works, you should call and talk to a professional.

You need to invest in a good pair of shoes. Something with good arch support. Your feet are not used to standing this long. Bad shoes can also cause stress on your hips and lower back.

It may get better once you get used to standing for such long hours....or it may get worse if you have illfitting shoes.

I work 12 hours shifts as a nurse and I wear New Balance running shoes.

You did not say whether you are standing in the same place the whole time or not. If you are, you should try resting one foot on a box or something (6 or so inches)so that it takes the stress off your legs, also alternate feet. Then invest in good shoes.

Make sure you have good walking/working shoes first off. Make sure your arches are supported very well. If you don't have a good shoe no matter how long you do it your feet will bother you. Sass is a real good brand of working shoe.

Buy a nice mat to stand on. Stretch your legs on occasion. Buy a comfortable shoe. Buy some gel inserts. Hope at least some of this helps.
