Im trying to make Soap, but Im confused with all the terms!..Im unable to buy readymade soap bases, so I have to make it from scratch. Any advice?

It's the same thing caustic soda is the British name and lye the American name for sodium hydroxide.
If you're after an easy way to make perfumed soaps, why not buy soap flakes. You might have to experiment to see how much waster to add but it's safer than kitchen chemistry.

Yes, it is, but do be careful about measuring quantities as it is potentially dangerous stuff.
Try using soap flakes or a modern recipe.
Whatever you do, enjoy your hobby.
