reason is that people started to put boundary's around them. the practised their own way of living for egg.. African people are black due to their climate and geological condition and Europeans are wight because of same reason. but both don't know this when they lived as a cave men or stone age where human are not cultured. when humans where developing they broke into groups and formed boundary, that is now called Continent , country, so on. they naturally started fighting. what we see is that black hates white and vice versa. truth is white hates whites and black hates black, if you see the history the country's are separated to two peaces. how did this happened the hated each other. community's, cast, and colour are excuses made by human being to show them superior by hating others.

I agree that fear of the unknown is one factor. But another is inherited prejudices. When generations of people have discriminated against a particular category, then the new generation automatically does so. Plus, when we don't know a particular people, there is very little communication, and resultant misunderstanding. We have all these wrong ideas about what they are supposed to be like, and we avoid them.

People stay with what they know because of an instinctive fear of the unknown. If we know something, it's known to be safe; if we don't know something, we don't know if it's safe or not, so we stay away from it instinctively, just in case. Our intellect has to override our animal instinct to step outside the boundaries placed on us by instinct, and that's difficult to do, so it's also easier to stay with what is known - but not always better.
