i'm scheduled to work on sunday the only prob is that i'm going to be out of town that day. i forgot to request off b/c i'm planning on quitting + i thought i wouldn't work there nemore by now but i still do. i've tried to switch with all the people who are trained to do what i'm scheduled for, but they're either working already or they can't switch with me. i work at a restuarant + my boss is pretty stuck to the rules so if i can't make it, i need someone to cover for me. my parents say i shuld tell my boss i'm not gonna be there on sunday + that i'm really sorry for the inconvienence, but i know if i do that then he'll make me call people until i find sumone 2 work 4 me.+ i don't like 2 talk 2 ppl i dont usually talk 2.(i'm shy) i was thinking that i could call in sick that day so i could get off but so far, that's all i've thought of. i don't know of anybody else i could call cuz i've asked everyone that could possibily help me. i'm so confused, wat shuld i do?

Since you tried to switch with co-workers already, if you call in sick everyone will know. You'll either stick someone with a double or get someone called in - either way they will be pizzed at you.

Call him and tell him "I just can't make it, something very personal and very important came up, I won't be in" Be firm, no way...can't make it, sorry. Say you are uncomfortable asking others to fill in because they will keep asking why and it's personal - ask him to please find a replacement. If he prys as to why say it is extremely personal.

Take care and good luck

Well, go ahead and tell the boss. He might give you the time off - or he might fire you.

Your alternative is to cancel your trip out of town, and show up at work as scheduled.

you need to make the call, dont be scared, be assertive and let him know there is no possible way you can make it in to work, dont let him convince you to come!
