I am buying my boyfriend a wii for Christmas. I don't know much about video games, so I have some questions which might seem stupid:

1.) Will it be the same price at every store or do some places generally charge less? I want to get it at the cheapest price possible. Who would charge the least?

2.) What else do I need to buy to go with the Wii? As with most electronics, I am sure that there are a million other things I need to buy to go with it (cables, memory cards, contollers, etc).

3.) I am planning on getting him two games. He likes games that are fun. He always says that the games on NES, Super Nintendo, and Sega Genesis were the best, because back then games were actually fun. So are there any recommendations for games that would be fun?

I would appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you so much.

I can help you answer all your questions. For the record their not stupid questions if you do not play any games becouse how would you know. I don't own a Wii, but I have alot of expertise on the wii becouse I have done reasearch on it. The Wii is priced $250. It doesn't matter what stores you go to becouse its going to be this price anywhere. Its not going to drop done for at least 6 months if not a year becouse it just came out. The Wii is actually cheap campared the the PS3 that cost $600 and the Xbox 360 that cost $400. Im going to be honest with you, its going to be very hard if not impossible to get one before Christmas. The Wii is sold out everywhere. I would go to walmart, target, and your local gamestop to find out when and if their going to get new shipments in. If they do plan on getting more shipments in, you need to be their when the store opens up, if you want to buy one. People watch these stores like hawks. 25 shippments can be gone within mins., Im not joking. If you really have to get a Wii before Christmas you can buy one off ebay. The only problem is you will probably have to pay double the price if you want to get one. These sellers know that its in high demand, so they charge double. They know people will pay it. If you can't get it before Christmas, just say its going to be a delayed Christmas present. Im sure your boy friend will understand. You probably don't have to get him a memmory card right now becouse the wii has a 512 megabite harddrive. You can save the games on the harddrive. You might want to get him a memory card if he plans on going to his friends house with a game, so that way he doesn't have to bring his whole console, he can bring just the memmory card. The Wii takes SD memory card. You can ask your local walmart or gamestop if they have any of these in stock. The Wii is backward compatible with the gamecube, so it can play any gamecube game on the Wii. I would buy him at least two wave bird controllers for the Wii, so that he can play gamecube games on the Wii. The wii controller will not be able to. You also don't need the Wii classic controller if you already have the gamecube controllers. I would also recommend buying him a gamecube memory card, so he can save his gamecube games. I would ask to comfirm this, ask if you can save gamecube games on the harddrive. I would buy a couple of Wii remotes, so that he can play with two people or more depending on how many Wii remotes you buy. The wii can have up to four remotes. You also may have to buy a Nunchuk controller for each remote you buy for the wii. Im not sure if they are included when you buy the Wii remote, I think its not though. The Wii console will probably include a Nunchuk controller through, I would ask the store manager to comfirm this though. This controller is used for games like Zelda and Mario. Make sure you buy the zelda that is the wii version and not the gamecube version. The wii version is more fun, trust me on this. Speaking of games I recommend These two games as you can't go wrong. You don't have to buy any cable or plugs becouse all game system comes with this. You may want to buy a internet switch box though. This is so you can connect both your pc and your Wii to the internet. You don't want to have to unplug your computer everytime you want to play Wii online. You can also buy him a light gun in the future, its not out yet thought. This will allow him to play classic games like duck hunt (NES) and Nintendo plans on making another duck hunt for the wii system. You can also buy him a wii points card. This allows you to download classic Nes, snes, for the classic consoles, from the nintendo website, then you can play these games on the Wii. This is all you probably will need for now. He will probably want to buy new hardware devices, becouse the Nintendo plans to come out with now.

Im going to tell you something else too, that may be really helpful. You said he likes classic games. You can get all these games free and play them on your pc for free. I would check out http://www.romnation.net/ and http://www.rom-world.com/
You can download Nes, Snes, Sega, Turbo Grafix 16, gameboy, gamboy color, gameboy advance, neogeo, cps1 and cps2. You will have thousands and thousands of games at your disposal. You can play them on your pc and even configure your pc game controller so you don't need to use your keyboard. You need software to play the games, this is called emulator. It emulates the game on your pc. The games are called roms. Every system requires a different emulator. if you have Super Nintendo, then you need a SNES emulator. Then you download the roms on your pc. You load the roms, configure the controller, start the game, your all set to go. I can help you like with this if you want. My email is russellmania8523@yahoo.com. Like I said this games are all free and won't cost you a dime. These games play in near perfect qulity, and have perfect sound. Its just like playing the games on the original console. The emulators can be download on these sites too. I hope this helped you and good luck on getting your Wii console before Christmas.

Right now the Wii is sold out. I'd suggest you keep an eye out at Walmart, Target, etc. if you're looking to buy it from a store. If you're looking to buy online, you can try Amazon.com or eBay. Right now eBay's prices are fairly ridiculous.

Most of what you need will come with the Wii. There are memory cards which should be near the machine as well as the extra controllers. I believe you have the option of the handheld nunchuks or the more traditional controller.

The Wii Sports games were actually a lot of fun. They're geared toward younger players, but they're a great way to get used to the nunchuk. Excite Truck seemed to get good reviews as well. I believe you can download the old games from the internet with the Wii.

Does your boyfriend have a Gamecube? (also from Nintendo, as it was the previous console before the Wii.) GC games are supposed to be compatible with the Wii, so you can buy him GC games as they'll become a LOT cheaper now.

Have fun!

The Wii will cost the same anywhere. The comes with the controller and the joystick attachment. You might want to get him another both parts of the controller is 60 bucks. You don't need memory cards or anything. If he would want to use the wii online you might look in to the adapters you can buy to do so. Wired or wireless.
The games cost 49.99 but you can actually buy him a points card that he can use to buy old sega and nintendo games from going online with his wii. The games are really cheap on there and he just downloads them. Hope this helped. I got a Wii and it is fing awesome even my girlfriend who hates video games loves it!

The Wii does not usually use a memory card, unless you are intending to play a Gamecube game. Sadly, no, your friend's data will not be playable on your Wii. It's very disappointing in some cases, while in others it's good if you lost a disk. But you can buy an SD card for the Wii so you can transport your data.

For the Wii, everything (including a fun game called Wii Sports) comes in the box that you need. All of the stores should be approximately the same price ($250.00)

A memory card is not necessary, because there is 512mb of flash memory in the system.

It comes with one controller, but a second is recommended (another $60.00).

Some of the games out that I would recommend for a fan of older games are Excite Truck (based on the NES game Excitebike) and Zelda: Twilight Princess (latest in a long line of Zelda sequels that started on NES as well).

Don't go to Walmart they would not selling me a wii? I got one to checkout an they said they couldn't sell them for a week but I know they was selling them last night. The lady at the register said she sold one. So don't go there for any big ticket items. They sell to friends only.

go to toys-r-us, the are generally helpful with those questions and have good prices as well. Don't go to Wal-Mart because they support slave labor and the person you ask a question will be mentally retarded (no offense but they wont be helpful to you).
