Do you mean tid and every 8 hours? TID is a Latin abbreviation meaning "three times a day" . This means you take the medicine morning, midday, and before bed, but do not need to get up in the night to take it. If the doctor writes to take the medicine every 8 hours, he means to take it precisely at 8 hour intervals. These usually come out pretty close to the same. When in doubt about the instructions on the bottle, always call the pharmacy to find out.

TDS(UK) is the same as TID(USA), meaning three times a day(waking hours only). 8 hourly means you take the medication every 8 hours whether you are asleep(you have to wake up for the meds) or not.

I am guessing that you have been given a med. that needs to be taken THREE TIMES A DAY (T I D).
There is no difference in taking medication T I D or every 8hrs.
Normally I try to figure the time so that it doesn't require me to disrupt my sleep. Something like 7am 3pm and 11pm.
