I have found a photo always works. Whether you take it yourself and frame it, or buy a nice/cute framed one somewhere, as long as it's in a neutral wood frame you're safe. Landscape works - do they like the mountains? Ocean? Sunset? Animals - dogs, cats, horses, even frogs. Art and crafts places have very inexpensive framed pictures. 5x7 to 8x10, hanging or for the shelf. It really does work. I take simple pictures on the coast, of roses, in parks. Again, it can be inexpensive, or high end if you'd like. Frames themselves are an art form.

The best gift shows that you are paying attention and that you care.

Anyone can buy a sweater, but to buy a sweater in the perfect color and fabric.....or a ticket to a show they've been wanting to see, or a signed book by a favorite author......you get the picture.
