They can both be bad. I'm not sure in relation to what you think this anger will do/cause. Verbalized anger can be more dangerous immediately because it shows a lack of impulse control, but depending on the type of person writen anger can be just as dangerous in the long term. Of course anger does not need to become violent. It can often be internalized and cause depression or bitterness which never aggressively acted out.

It depends on where the writing is done, and to whom. If on paper to a friend, I feel that verbalized anger would usually cause the most damage because things can be said that cannot be taken back, as well as statements made in the heat of the moment that are not really meant (or just not meant to be said). This can cause permanent damage to a friendship. However, if you write a letter to the friend, you can revise it as often as needed before sending it to take the heat out and speak your mind clearly and thoughtfully.
If the writing is done on a city wall about, well, just about anyone, it can cause much more damage than a simple shouting match because of the number of people who see it and also depending on how long the writing remains. It can also come back to haunt you by making you look petty and childish.

I think that if someone takes the time to write an angry note or letter, they have a deeper sense of anger than someone who spews it out verbally. A verbal tirade of anger, is more a spur of the moment type of emotion, and therefore not thought through. However, if one takes the time to write his anger on a piece of paper, it is much more calculated, and the intent is intensified by the reasoning mechanism kicking in, the ability to form and collect one's thoughts, and the actual writing and sending of the letter. This would constitute a much deeper anger.

Either way, it depends on whether you are just venting, or if you are looking for a solution to a problem. If you are just venting, they will both hurt very much. If you are dealing with someone who doesn't listen very well, writing can give them a chance to re-read the letter and see what you are really saying. Writing can give you time to think about what point you are trying to make. The most important thing is that you don't make accusations, but focus on how you feel about the situation and what has hurt you. Be open to see that you may not have perceived everything correctly, and give the other person a chance to express their take on things. "We must seek first to understand and then to be understood". So before you decide, ask yourself whether you are seeking a solution or revenge.

Both are bad. Verbalized anger, I think, is far worse. It's what gets people killed.

They can both be equally harmful. Its all about who takes in the information and let it circulate within their head to the point in which they will start believing what they've heard/saw.
To an extent, some let what they hear bother them more than if they were to hear it.
On the same note, if someone wrote unappropriate things down, the reciever could read it over and over and over again until it drove them crazy.....
But for the most part, they both can be equally damaging, it all depends on who you addressed this anger to.
