UC Berkeley is a public university, and the best public in the nation too.
Living in a Residence Hall costs about 12,173/academic year, while living off campus will cost around 6,650/academic year. Since you're talking about two months, it will roughly come to about $2,705 living on campus, and $1,500 living off campus.
For food, it costs around $900/academic year living in the hall, and $2,472/academic year living off campus. For 2 months it comes to $200 living in the hall and $550 living off campus.

These are just average numbers, here's a link to get you started:

Summer School is cool at Berkeley. If you have on campus housing and food services offered you will be fine. Some food services offered with campus housing is closed on Sundays. That is how it was when I was up there. The school was school. I think they charge a good fee. You should go to their admissions page and seek info on prices for food services and housing. But I remember that summer is less expensive to live because it is shorter than a regular semester. There are great places to eat off campus that are less expensive but you need cash or credit and if you receive it from the school it could be part of your financial aid. Good Luck.

UC-Berkeley is in fact the top-rated public university in the country. I can't tell you much about prices, but it's probably a lot. Living expenses in San Francisco (the surrounding city) are exorbitant. I'd plan for a good $6,000 or $7,000 (on the high end).
