I know it shouldn't matter, but some of my friends are criticizing my outfits on a regular basis, and it hurts. Several examples (just for today)
"Why are you wearing a halter top to school under a sweater?"
*look of disdain while looking outfit up and down*
"I don't like the way the sweater looks folded like that"
"Why are you wearing those weird tights? It shows your toes strangly"
I dont think my clothes look strange (it sounds strange on YA though), and the clothing is not bad quality (from delias), but I suppose I just pair the outfits oddly. What are some replies that I can say?

Your clothes sound just fine to me. You have your own unique taste in clothes and there is nothing wrong with that. I sometimes had that problem and my response to them was
" get over yourself, dont be so worried about what i put on my body."
they would say
"well you look stupid."
i would say
"well so do you.... whats your point. ?"
OR
" I dont want daddys girl to tell me how to dress."
OR
" Well it shows how well i am a leader and not a follower, unlike you girls you tend to follow the group and not lead it."
Hunny its simple you just need to put them in there place they want you to follow a trend thats not going to be out that much longer and who knows you trend may happen to be the next one to come out, pay no attention to them give them the finger and tell them to shove it somewhere.
they will get over themselves before you know it. Good Luck

Actually, if these people are so-called friends of yours tell them the truth. Nobody likes to have their feelings hurt all the time. Tell them exacting what you said, I don't think this outfit looks strange.Don't just suppose that it has to be you that is wrong either. You know what as long as you like the outfit, it's clean, it's modest and it's what you like WEAR IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Next time say, Hey if you don't like it STOP LOOKING!!!!!!!!!! It also sounds like they just might be JEALOUS of you, they sure sound insecure. If all else fails just say SO, everytime they criticize you, they will stop once they see you are no longer affected by their jabs at your clothing.

If they are your friends they shouldnt be criticizing your clothing style, sounds fine to me, just make a comment about their clothes or hair or something in return.. just give them a taste of their own medicine, they wont like it much and possibly leave you alone.

Don't worry about what people think of your clothes. You are the one wearing them and if they are criticizing them then they are not good friends. If you ask for their advice it would be different but if you don't tell them that they are your clothes.

You are different than others, you are your own person and have your own style. That doesn't change you inside. Heck, you may start the next trend. Just wait, others before long will be wearing the same thing.

IGNORE them. as long as your comfterble with the way you look that is all that should matter. the are just trying to get attention.
