i heard it makes you smell alot worst cuz the sweat drips down your leg and has nothing to clamp onto(as if it had the butt hairs to cling to) but i think that if you would shave them, you would be getting rid of alot unpleasant smell, cuz the Hairs are the apartment of bad smell.

Lets take in consideration of your hair growth. Is it bad for you, well its not that it isn't healthy. You increase your chances of developing a boil or rectal abcess when the hair tries to grow back,and the fact that you now have establish an open wound with the razor for Ecoli to enter. (You would shave around your rectum) Also consider the fact that hair usually is itchy when it grows back. Always try to remember not to shave against the Grain. Always go downward. As far as smell I don't know but think about this: when you are unable to clean yourself well after having a bowel movement where do the feces stay?

just remember 2 things;
when the hair grows back you may get itchy stubble and walk around for a couple of days scratching your a$$
and
when you shave, the hair grows back thicker and darker. This may not be something you want to deal with.

None of that makes any sense at all. If your butt smells it is coming from something other than the hair. Wax it if you are not convinced.

no hair will improve the smell, not the other way around
and don't use a traditional razor blade... use the trim edge on your electric razor
oh ya... and don't do anything with the hair in the up and in.....it will itch

no matter what your gonna have an odor down there and some people are attracted to it if your clean i shave down there and my husband dont complain about nehitng i think its ok

Use a hair remover like nair so that once you remove the hair it stays removed!

it is better to shave them. but just from your crack area about an inch or two from your crack then leave the rest.
