"I'm sorry, I'm not interested. Please don't call again."

It's important that you request that they don't call again. At this point write down in a notebook the name of the telemarketing firm, the person's name, time and date. If they call again, then they are in violation of federal law.
Better yet, register your name and # on the "do not call" list. I haven't had any telemarketers call since I registered on that list. Before that, they were calling every day!

1) This is a place of business. (Most telemarketers aren't supposed to solicit businesses, and they'll hang up so fast you wouldn't believe!)

2) For just in case the telemarketer in question happens to be from a telephone service provider...put on your best little-kid voice and say "I'm sorry, I'm not supposed to talk to strangers".

hehehe

I can't believe how much money is going by the wayside with all these responses! Tell them to call me.

I wait for a lull in the conversation and ask them if they really enjoy having a loser job or do they just need the money that bad.

Than I ask them if they haven't heard about all the people getting rich on the Internet?

Finally I lead them to my website at CashStarter.com and I have actually had a few signup.

We live in a military town and when we get a call that says Private Number it's usually a telemarketer. My bf answers the call something like this...

Colonel XXXX's residence, I've been meaning to call you Private Numbers about that situation...

and before he gets to the punch line they're long gone and don't call back.

When there's someone who is persistent and has been told several times to remove our number from their list he will threaten to sue if they call again.

Do take advantage of the no call list if your state has one.

>Hi!
>(Oh ****, not again)Hi...
>How are you today?
>(I'd be better if you took the phone and shoved it up your ***!)
Good....
>I'm from blah blah blah. Blah blah blah.....blah blah blah. Can I interest you in blah blah blah.
>(Shut up!) I'm about to eat right now, so this is kind of a bad time!
>Oh! Is there some other time that I can call back?
>(Yeah when your going to give me some money!) Uhhh...How about you give me your number and I'll call YOU back?
>I'm not allowed to give out this number.
>(No ****!) How about you give me your home number then?
>I would prefer to not get phone calls at home.
>REALLY? Now you ****'n know how I feel!

At this point you hang up!

If that doesn't work just start speaking in the worst, most fake accent you can manage. That'll piss'm off real quick!

Good luck with that!

My personal strategy? I say hello, and if it is a telemarketer, I start speaking in Spanish.
"No hablo ingles".

But seriously, a straightforward "I am not interested, remove me from all contact lists you have" is best.

Just play it cool and say this.

I'm sorry i'm a bit busy right now but why don't you just give me your number and i'll call you back a bit later and we can talk about it then. Sound good?
They wont know what to say!

The old Seinfeld response - give me YOUR number and I'll call you at home, so we can talk about it.
