Any state that doesn't have a law with a minimum higher than the federal minimum of $5.15 an hour is subject to the federal amount. Some states have old laws saying their minimum is much less than that, but employers are then subject to the federal law, so the minimum in that state is $5.15.
Note that there is a different, lower minimum for tipped employees, since tips are expected to bring employees up to at least that amount.

I think Texas rates up there with one of lowest minimum wages but the cost of living is also lower. Washington State is around $7.70. I think it is about time that the citizens of this country revolted again the poor wages and health system because they are really being jipped. The rich get richer and the poor get the picture.

Oklahoma I think...it's about $2 ....there are quite a few states without minimum wage laws though, so they probably flucuate...check out this link

southern states usually have the lowest wages, Loussiana and Alabama are usually heading the list.
The reasons for this are: plenty of unprofessional labor, low prices, low taxes, etc.
