I am looking for a detector that will tell me if I am have a x64 capable processor or not.

I do have a AMD Athlon 3000+ processor

At the amd .com download site is a program called cpu-z
go to amd.com and download the program and install .
follow the instructions for sempron 32 or 64 id code.
when you run the cpu-z program it will have a line called instruction... if x86 64 are not at the end of the instruction line then it is not a 64 chip. good luck

I'm guessing you want to know the archecture of you processor?
The new AMD Turion 64 is a 64bit processor. It's funny how they advertise this. Every Intel chip that is a Pentium M or newer is 64 bit. You will never hear intel say this on a commercial. This includes the celerons, and centrinos, solo and duo core. There are other intel and AMD processors that are 64 bit but they are somewhat obscure and usuaully have names like EMT64. They came in systems that were specifically designed for linux, or in some business type machines. I almost bet you will see Intel throwing that 64-bit in their advertisements in the future because AMD has everyone thinking that they are the only ones who make 64-bit processors. Any processor that is windoze vista capable is 64-bit. My information is not up-to-date on Cyrix chips, or if they are even still in business, so I have no idea about them. I'm sure they probablly have something, but its probablly also a rarity.

Most likely, x86. x86 products generally work on the x64 platforms anyway.

x86 is the current standard.x64 usually applies to Apple.

X64 for sure, it is the wave of the future, as color is to black and white t.v.
