I heard about this woman that is so against the war in Iraq, that she protests the war at the funerals of US soldiers whom were killed in Iraq. She'll station herself right outside of the funeral home, and shouts at the family things like "Your son/daughter fought for a terrorist regime!" or "Your son/daughter was a terrorist!". Let there be no mistake about the fact that I'm against the war in Iraq myself, but this sort of stuff is just plain evil. Could you imagine a family member of yours being brought home in a body bag, and then seeing someone doing something like that to you and your family?

PS - This woman should NOT be placed in the same category as Cindy Sheenan (sp).
PSS - I'm neither Democrat nor Republican.

People who believe this is freedom of speech have disregarded the families right to privacy, especially to cereminiously honor there loved ones that have died. If racial remarks were said outside of a minority's funeral or hateful remarks to homosexuals funeral, it wouldn't be tolerated. It shouldn't be tolerated for a soldier's funeral either.

the team you're talking approximately is Westboro Baptist Church and Fred Phelps kinfolk. first of all, please be sparkling that those each and every person isn't Christian's or Baptists yet rather deluded and unhappy human beings. As a Christian and a Baptist they provide my God and my united states of america a terrible call each and every time they take place - the God I serve would not act that way! 2nd, they have the astonishing to protest and jointly as this is rather disgusting the soldier's they defame have fought for his or her good to accomplish that. there's a team referred to as the patriot take care of now in purely approximately each and every state who attend besides in the event that they recognize the team would be there. they're motorcyclists who line the path, escort the kinfolk and block the protesters and their noise. those human beings have the astonishing to protest inspite of the undeniable fact that this is morally incorrect for anyone to accomplish that at a funeral.

Some people have no life. This is sick..Yes freedom of speech is a good thing but there is a time & a place where it is acceptable to act like a moron & at a funeral isn't the place. Having your own beliefs is okay too but to go to a FUNERAL & protest is sick. Come on people what if someone you loved died & a moron was standing there yelling rude things to you? I say leave the families alone because the soldiers were doing their jobs. The family deserves better. There is a time & a place for things & a funeral is for mourning not DRAMA...

I agree that this action is in total poor taste and makes me wonder if the protester isn't a sociopath. At least we don't have to deal with being attacked and murdered during our funerals like in some places in the world.

Freedom of speech is a right but also a choice.
Timing is everything.

I'm not American and don't know who Cindy Sheenan is (i take it she's an anti-war activist?). But if that's what "you heard", who knows what really went down during the funeral. There's a big big difference between "Your son fought for a terrorist regime" and "your son is a terrorist", since the first is a protest against a government that sends it's sons to an indecent questionable war and the second one judges directly the soldier. I do believe soldiers are not stupid and deserve some kind of responsability for what they do, but in any case, if the woman said the first thing, she was actually supporting the dead soldier's family.
It is distastefull, i agree. It's even cruel, gross, whatever. She probably doesn't have the right to do what she did. My point is that War (in general) is a distastefull, cruel, gross, horrible, crazy, psychotic, unhuman, inconsiderate event that makes people act likewise. Just cut her some slack.

Not to be controversial, but bombs fall over baghdad during the funerals of the soldiers AND civilians. Just think a little perspective is needed, a desperate woman outside a funeral is very disrispectfull, but some have it much, much worse

i have heard other stories like this.
but it was a group of people. they say they protest the war because they believe the soldiers are fighting for a country that allows sin. mostly they mean homosexuals. they say the soldiers defend fags.

i personally am not for or against the war(i know it sounds stupid), but i think it is disgusting that people would protest at the funerals of soldiers.

Its the Westborough Baptist Church (NOT A REAL BAPTIST CHURCH), but its headed by Fred Phelps, the guy who runs the God Hates Fags movement, as well as God Hates America. He is utterly detestable, a horrible person. He protests these funerals, and if my son had died in the war, I guarantee you Fred wouldn't live to see tomorrow. Their church is a sick example of pure hatred masked as religion, and may serve to give religion a bad name (though I have enough faith in people that they would realize most people are not like this). Its like 2 or 3 families involved, about 100 people in all, and they've protested people like Matt Shepards funeral and many, many soldiers funerals. They are sickos to the highest degree. I wouldn't care if someone killed them. The soldiers are dying for them to insult them. What a world, what a world!

The woman you speak of is his daughter in law, I believe. She's been interviewed on the news, a real nutjob. She just rambles and rants and says nothing in the process. They claim everyone is going to hell except them. EVERYONE. What freaks! They claim that the soldiers are in hell because of homosexuality in America. Its all based around homosexuality for some reason.

They're based in Kansas in a fortress like compound, no doubt to keep from getting killed. Theres videos on youtube of people trying to kill them. Fun to watch

people can protest the government all they want, but leave the soldiers alone. Anyone that would protest at a funeral should be sent to Iraq to see first hand what the fighting is all about.

There are some places that are sacred, and a cemetery is one of them. How ironic that these protesters, protest the war and the killings because they "respect" life, yet at someones final interment make a spectacle of themselves by disrespecting a soldier at his final moments.

It is so disgusting. Thank goodness there is a huge motorcycle club that will go to the funerals and get between her (them). And block her free speech.

Just because you have a right to free speech doesn't mean it's always right to speak.
