Did Nimrod start pagan worship?

No, Christians try to use the story of Nimrod to give the tradition of the Xmas tree a spurious "Christian" background, but that's about it.

No. He was the first king. He was a builder of Nineveh. There is nothing in the scriptures about him starting pagan worship.
