I think the ones who stick to the book are Fred and George, and I don't know how they could go wrong either.

I think the one who is the worst is the new Dumbledore. He is not sweet and kind like in the book, he is too gruff.

I have to agree they did a great job casting the movie in comparison to the books.
Alan Rickman does do an excellent Snape, and Lucius and Draco Malfoy have that arrogant snideness that I pictured as well. All the Weasleys do an excellent portrayal, and Emma Thompson fit Prof Trelawney to a T. and McGonagall seemed perfect too....
oh, I just can't decide.

Snape - Alan Rickman does a great job of being a slimy evil bastard. And the new Dumbledore played by Michael Gambon is great too, he's much more like the book Dumbledore, especially in Prizoner of Azkaban. Hermione is pretty much as I imagined her but a lot prettier!

I agree with almost all the answers and I love the fact that most answerers seem to support Snape and Alan Rickman, who are my favourite character and actor as well. :)

Snape (Alan Rickman) - He manages to capture Snape's image almost perfectly. He's an almost flawless reflection of the character. :) He can leave that impression that his evilness is a natural feature, he can be dark and angry while managing to keep himself defiant, dignified and impose. Love him, both the character and the actor. I especially love the way he comes towards you as if he wants you to know his intentions are not good, and the way he leans in towards you menacingly to accuse you or intimidate you. He has this natural dark air about him and he's great at expressions.

(Professor) Sybill Trelawney - I think Emma Thompson is a great actress and does a wonderful job portraying her. She manages to capture the pathetic side and the confident and passionately crazy side of the character, blending them perfectly.

Dumbledore, the first one, Richard Harris, not the current one, played by Michael Gambon.

(Professor) Minerva McGonagall (Maggie Smith)

Neville (Matthew Lewis) - although he's really different from his character which makes it even more impressive :)

Lucius (Jason Isaacs) - another great actor that can capture Lucius' nature, full of pride and confidence, dignified and aware of his power. He does great at showing all those features.

I would say Dumbledore, he is exactly what I imagine when reading the book and also Snape perfectly matched the book's character.

Professor McGonagall. Maggie Smith was the perfect choice for her. I heard J.K. Rowling wrote the part with her in mind.

Ron. Maybe the Weasley twins.

Snape. I think the actor that plays him (his name slips my mind at the moment) does a great job portraying him.

I think theyre all basically on point. I mean in my mind thats exactly how I pictured them. It would suck if any of them decided to leave or got replaced.
