x = 16
----- ------
5 = 10

x = 8 (see points 1 and 2 below)

1. cross multiply the two terms that are known
5 times 16 =80

2. Divide the answer you get by the number that is left.
80/ 10 = 8

Multiply both sides by 5:
5(x/5)=5(16/10)
x=8

Check:
8/5=16/10
8/5=8/5

well you use the do to me right side what you do to me left side
in this questions case
since you want to find the value of x that will make the left side equals the right side
first you set it up
x/5=16/10
first you isolate x by
multiply bots side by 5 to get rid of the 5 in the left side and remeber the above rule you must do to me RS and what you did to the LS then
X= 16/10x5
now we have to write 5 in times of fraction and we get 5/1
so now the above question looks like 16/10*5/1 hopefully you can do this now because if you can't go back to kindergaten (jk) when you solve you get x=80/10
=8
to find out if you are correct plug 8 in terms of x and see if Ls = Rs
