One of my friends wears eyeliner and she is 13 and it really hides her natural beauty. What should I tell her that won't offend her and will convince her to not wear the eyeliner?
Also, I know this is off topic but I want to start an advice column on email and I don't know how to start it. Any suggestions?

Tell her the eyeliner looks okay but then tell her that you think she looks better without it, then tell her why she looks better without it. People are more likely to respond positively to compliments than negativity. So try to avoid "I don't like" and replace it with something like "Yeah, I think the eyeliner is a fun new look but I think I like the way you looked before a little better because . . ."

You could just comment how beautiful her eyes are without makeup, and that she's lucky that she doesn't need eyeliner. I don't think that would be offensive at all. Anyway, I started wearing makeup when I was 11. Everybody's different.

I think 13 is okay to wear a little eyeliner. I started wearing it when I was 14. I think 12 and under is way too young, though.

13 is a little young for eyeliner, but lip gloss and nail polish are fine. maybe you could tell your friend how pretty her eyes are without the makeup and give her some different types of makeup for christmas. she might have fun with some new perfume or nail polish in different colors and it could distract her from the eyeliner for now.

13 is too young tell her "it will make her look like she is in a hurry to grow up. don't hurry. once she get older you will long for the baby skin she used to have. makeup damages the skin, you don't wanna damage your skin at an early age" or tell her she looks old,but maybe she does wanna look old so tell her she looks like shes playing with moms makeup. nows the time to collect lipsmackers, burts bees, glitter gels, glitter tattos. get nail art done together! maybe gloss and curlash. add blush for a special occassion. now is the time to bring out your natural beauty and celebrate your youth. try posting on your friendster and myspace both have blogs and bulletins(for ur column)

If she can walk out the door with all that make up on with out a guardian telling her to take it off thne shes old enough. Tell your friend a better way to use make up is to bring out her natural beauty. try a pretty shadow. tell her that by wearing all that liner it is hiding her natural beauty.
if she values your friendship she will respect your advice kinowing you want whats best for her.
she may realize in her own time its mot flatering her. give her some thime. Shes trying to grow up.

If she wants top dont stop her. if she thinks she is beautiful that way then let her be the way she wants. Im 14 and alot of people our age wears makeup aready so its alright just let her wear it, maybe she looks plain without it like i do.

i think 13 is pretty young to be wearing eyeliner or any kind of make up for that matter...as for how to tell her about just tell her she looks prettier without it...

i think u should start wearing a little makeup in middle school. don't cake on too much or you'll look like a clown!

my friend has the same problem.....if you are a close friend of her you should maybe sometime tell her how beautiful she is without all that makeup on....but we all have our insecurities and maybe that helps her with her confidence...
