Justin Morneau deserved it and won fair and square! I can't see the reasoning that Jeter did better or that he deserved to win it!

I´m a Yankee fan, and i watch every yankee game. So, i´m inclined to Jeter as the real MVP. However, Morneau is a great player and with a great season tood.Heck, he lead the Twinkis to the playoffs along with Santana and Mauer. Jeter was the MVP, but he had help from Cano, Rivera, and all the other great yanks of that line up. So that´s a tie out there. So, I´m not exactly mad with the result.
Other thing would be if Ortíz had won it, but because he does not.... I´m happy.

In my opinion, Justin Morneau was the most deserving player. He was great offensively, and the voters may have seen what others did not:

1. From the start of June to the end of the year, Morneau led the league in batting average and pulled the Twins from 4th place to 1st.

2. Morneau is a very solid defense first basemen.

3. Morneau was just as clutch of a hitter as Jeter or Ortiz

4. Those who say the Yankees faced many injuries don't seem to point out that they still had Giambi, Cano (most of the year), A-Rod, and Damon in their line-up.

5. All Twins players and fans know that Justin Morneau was no doubt the MVP of the twins.

Justin. Jeter had too many talen around him for him to be anounced MVP. And Without Jeter, the Yankees can still do good. I mean, they won like what? 25 World Series without him.

Justin was a nobody untill now, and he deserves this award because he made a team that was 12 games below the .500 during the first half and carried them into the playoffs and a devision title winning team.

Chef Daddy D! Quit being racis saying Justin isn't american!

Derek Jeter. I am so sick of people saying that the Yankees would have won without him. How do they know this? They were without Sheffield and Matsui for most of the year, Cano for six weeks, and A-Rod was AWFUL for long stretches. Jeter was the glue that held the team together, if he had gone down, they wouldn't have made the playoffs. I'm also sick of people looking only at HR and RBI numbers, there are many phases to the game. Did Jeter have Morneau's power numbers? No. But did Morneau have 34 steals with only 5 times being caught like Jeter? They are different type players, and big HR and RBI numbers does not always mean most valuable.

Well, at least DH Ortiz didn't win it, so it wasn't a total loss.

Hey, El Diablo, the besides Morneau, the Twins have good players in Cuddyer, Hunter, Mauer, Santana, and Nathan. Each of those guys were just as valuable as Morneau, and in the case of Mauer and Santana, maybe even more so. So let's not hear about the Jeter having a lot of help around him. He was consistent from Game 1 through Game 162, and even in the loss to Detroit.

Derek Jeter. To any one who remotely thinks Ortiz can be mentioned in the same breathe as Jeter just look at all the great plays Jeter made in the field and compare them to all the wait thats right ORTIZ ONLY PLAYS HALF THE GAME!

Oh yeah and Morneau isn't even the most valuable Twin.

Does anyone know where i can score some of the herbal remedy that these guys had when they were voting?

Jeter lead his team through injuries? who exactly? Sheffield and Matsui?

Yea it was tough having a lineup of Damon, Jeter, A-rod, Posada, Cano, Giambi, Cabrera was great, Abreu towards the end .. how they were an above .500 team i will never know

Morneau plays wiithout that great lineup, and put up more impressive numbers. Jeter is very important for the yankees, and had a great season, but come on..

Morneau was easily the MOST Valuable Player.. where would the Twins had been without him? Can anyone here even name the twins lineup? That is why he was the most valuable player.

The guy who won it, Morneau

I hate the Yankees and Jeter, but it was a close race and that idiot writer who voted Jeter 6th should be fired. But Morneau defenitely deserved it.

As a Dodger fan, I am basically impartial towards all AL teams, but I think David Ortiz deserved it. He hit a lot of clutch home runs when the victory was on the line. He battled heart palpitations to try to spur his team's playoff run. It's not his fault Jon Lester got cancer, or that Jonathan Papelbon hurt his arm.

I think that justin morneau should have won it since he came back from a horrible 2005 season and was the 1st good twins hitter since kirby puckett in '94. Plus morneau had to battle uphill ot get his props since he gets WAAYYYYYY less publicity than the yankees and derek jeter.
