Help! I'm 37 weeks, and nesting really REALLY bad!
2 days ago, i went to my mum's house, of my own accord, and cleaned her kitchen and bathroom. She wasn't even home!!! And today I have mopped the floors twice, in a space of 3 hours. I used an entire bottle of pine-o-clean! and that bottle of grout cleaner is looking mighty attractive right now..... how do i stop?!

And yes, my house is already done!!
Also, i have a history of early births, my last child was born at 36 weeks, one before that at 37 weeks. I know what I'm doing, and why i'm doing, i just can't seem to stop!!!

Oh yes, we've all gone through that. I say keep on cleanin' and get the house all squeaky clean because you sure won't have time to clean it when that baby comes along. I was having mild contractions and was more concerned about mopping floors and washing walls than getting to the hospital--that was 35 weeks and sure enough, my daughter came early. Also, my biggest thing when I was pregnant was landscaping the yard...something that I have never really been interested in. I planted more flowers and gardens in that spring/summer than I would have ever planned on planting in a lifetime. Needless to say, I regret it now....too many weeds and not enough time. Maybe I'll get the ambition again during my next pregnancy :)
Congratulations to you, enjoy that little one!

This is normal behavior it is nesting..
Nesting can a humorous aspect of your pregnancy. One that you are sure to laugh about in the years to come...You may laugh about it now but you probably won't laugh when you're in the middle of it. No one can pull you out of it no matter how silly your behavior may seem. It simply becomes something that you must do!
Just don't do like my sister did & go mow lawns with a push mower at 9 mos pregnant.
Nesting is normal and it is not hard on a woman’s health unless she exhausts herself.
As long as your not pushing pianos across rooms or doing dangerous things i wouldn't worry to much.
Congrads on being pregnant maybe someday i will be as lucky...

It's called "nesting" and it is quite common for women in the latter part of the last trimester to go crazy cleaning. I went so far as to scrub all the walls in our apartment when I was pregnant for my daughter and we had just had them painted! I was on the bathroom floor with a tooth brush cleaning the grout in the tile...funny but I've never had the urge to clean like that in the past 21 years since...LOL

Sorry honey! While you're cleaning why don't you check your house over to make sure it's child proofed. It's easier to do it now than to wait and do it later.
Just keep cleaning. It's good exercise but makes sure the room is ventilated and you were gloves so you don't harm yourself or your baby. It will also keep you occupied while you wait to go into labor.
I think nesting is good. You get all tired out and sleep then you're rested for labor!
If you ever come to Lansing, Michigan you can clean my house!

Oooh you have the "nesting" thing going on, its really natural to happen when you are very close to going into labour. Try really hard to conserve your energy right now I was the same and was exhausted by the time labour came around, so hide the cleaning products right away! best wishes

i did that crazy clean stuff a few days before going into labor with both my kids. With kid #1 i took all the dishes out of cabinets and washed the cabinets. With #2 i cleaned everything in the house. It's just a burst of energy some women get before labor don't think you can stop it.

you appearently have what is called O.C.D. or Obsessive compulsive disorder. If this is really a bother to you you can see a mental health professional about it and how to control it.
In the mean time why not start a cleaning business and put your obsession to work for you!
oops! missed the one line stating you were pregnant! sorry! everyone else is right you are nesting! You go girl! i loved nesting! everything is sooo clean! congrats! wishing you a happy healthy baby soon!

you have one of two things going on. 1. either you are nesting and this is very common in later pregnancy. 2. Mild forms of OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder ) occur commonly in women in later pregnancy too. This will usually resolve in time. A good indication to what is going on is to find the family history and see if this was common with your Mum or any other siblings or family members.
Good luck and no matter what i hope you have a beautiful, happy healthy child. God bless good Moms.

I like to call it "nesting". Getting everything ready for the baby to come home. It's normal....when you feel like you can stop cleaning, I would bet money that you will go into labor right away.
