My wife and I have been married for almost 2 years now. We have a newborn baby girl born july 4th. I buy my wife everything she asks for and then some. I have a few ideas of what to get for her for Christmas but lets face it, guys are not that great when it comes to buying things for their spouse. I get her flowers at least twice a month but that won't get me out of the doghouse if a screw this up. Any ideas would be great. Thanks!

Thank you all so much for your ideas. I'm in S. Korea serving for the US Army. Some of the ideas won't work out here due to location. But I plan to go with the day at the spa, followed by dinner at the place we had our first date. I also managed to book tickets for a show at the Korean Arts Theater in Seoul. I only hope this is whats she wants. Thanks again for you ideas.

Don't buy her something for the house or to help her with motherhood. Chances are...she needs a reminder of who SHE is. She has probably given you subtle "hints" that you may or may not have picked up on. Ask around, but don't ask her. She will want you to have the creativity and gumption to figure it out on her own. Effort on your part equates to caring enough to take the initiative from her point of view. Here are a few closing thoughts...diamonds, maybe. vacuum, no. a day at the spa, sure. something that you didn't get off the baby registry, nope. a housekeeper to come twice a month for six months, oh yeah. a nice book to help her figure out how to be a better wife and mom, absolutely not!

What about XM radio...sounds lame, but I got it for my wife last christmas and she loves it. She never asked for it, I just thought it would be a good idea and now she is hooked on the E network and the Oprah channel....you can buy a home kit for it as well and she can listen at home.

What about art? There are some awesome art sellers on ebay that sell cool *** framed pictures pretty cheap.

Tickets to a play if she likes that type of thing....

old corny DVD's that she may like...I bought mine old movies like Whos that Girl and Pretty in Pink...just some old 80's movies that she liked..

Just try to think of random little things she wants and buy them all.....its best to get them a bunch of little things they never really asked for, than one big thing they asked for. At least thats the case in my situation.

I'm in the same boat as you though....Im usually pretty good at this ****, but this year Im drawing a blank....what to get??

My favorite gifts have not been material things, but thoughtful gifts that pamper me! Start with a salon manicure and pedicure. A great massage at home, if possible( get a sitter to take the baby out for the evening ), make or have a nice romantic dinner afterwards, and yes, a "chick flick" to top off the evening.Wine would also be nice !

How about something that every mom wants...a break! Take over the household duties for an entire month, without complaining. Do the laundry, the dishes, keep the house clean, cook dinner...with a smile.

It's not a cheap gift, it's a kind and considerate gift. Have a certificate made declaring that the month of January is her month off...wrap it and put it under the tree.

I know if I would ask anything of my husband it would be this.... a full day ( fully paid ) at an upscale spa. Where I can get pampered from head to toe knowing that my hubby is taking care of our little baby.. and for that.. after feeling pretty damn good at the end of that day, I would make sure my husband knows how grateful I am later on that night ;) Dinner out that same night at a romantic restaurant wouldn't hurt either... you can arrange for baby sitting and surprise her with it .. Best of luck

Women love anything that shows you put your heart into it. For example, writing a poem about how you feel about her and/or your new baby--WOW. Insert it into a journal and pen set for her. Or, buy a purse, bag, basket--any kind of cute container and fill it with little things you know she loves. Her favorite book, movie, magazine, candy, lotion, make up, etc etc. Make her a mix cd. Go online and adopt an animal for her. NWF.org and Defenders of Wildlife are good places. I think you can adopt a wolf for $25. Also, you can name a star after her and get a certificate to show. Just get CREATIVE and PERSONAL.

Don't buy a Vacuum cleaner. I still haven't figured out what I'm going to do either. But you can bet I will find a way to make her go nuts with whatever I get her.

You sound too good to be true. Please don't buy her a broom (I got that last year, he had used our kitchen broom in the garage and ruined it). How about going to a nice jewelry store and ask for a necklace with a mary jane shoe charm and have your daughters name engraved on the bottom. You can add another shoe/sneaker for each additional child later.
