You can use Christmas as an early excuse to buy the things you will want to buy her in the near future. I think some of the neatest things that I've purchased for my son now 8 months old are. A bumbo seat, and a jumperoo. He is soo cute in them. If she can hold her head up around 4 mos she can sit in the bumbo, and the jumperoo she can use around 6 months.
