Very insightful. The government has serious issues and policies in place that are undermining what made this country great at its inception. Add to that the apathy and laziness of the citizens and it just gets worse. What we need is for people to get off their butts, turn off their ipods and big screen TVs, and figure out what is going on in the real world and then DO SOMETHING to make some little part of it better.

If or when the US fails, some countries will laugh at us and some will panic and/or fail because we have been supporting them for so long. Some may close their eyes and say all is well, but it really isn't. True, the USA is still one of the best places in the world to be, but things have to change to keep it that way and to reverse the negative trends.

Let's keep it real, America will never fall! We Americans would never ever let this country go down, it's just not going to happen. I mean realistically the only way I could see this country fall is if there were some sort of nation wide devastating catastrophic incident that occurred, which cause a major loss in American lives, land, and structure leading to major financial loss due to the inability for this country at all levels to be physically or financially productive in any capacity.

Since the dawn of history, great empires have arisen. They have all fallen. There is no exception. America rose to be the greatest country in the world, a super power. We are now in decline. We will fall just like all the other super powers that came before us. We owe billions of dollars to our enemies. They own us. Bush has set up the foundation for a totalitarian government --Patriot Act and Homeland Security. Mansanto and others are forcing GE foods on us which will cause all foods to be dispensed by a monopoly. We will see a new global governance sometime soon. Individual rights will disappear as communitarian ideals are gaining ascendancy. Human intrinsic value is disappearing as the value of a human being will be his value to the community and nothing more. A new world order is coming and it won't be what most expect. Economic collapse. Famines and food shortages. Those are the tools the Global Government can and will use to control the world. High Masons say there is a great man coming who will take over the world -- It is his right. He will be killed but will come back to life and amaze the world. He will have powers unheard of. So it is said, and so it is written. One day we will see a book, The Rise and Fall of America. Some say we have fallen already but don't know it yet. The only thing left is for us to find out that we have fallen. Say China cashes in their IOU's. Our economy would be crushed. We are on the cusp of disaster and are totally heedless of it.

If the US is failing in anything it is in educational preparation. As a PhD college professor, I can tell you first-hand that America's pre-college students are ignorant. They do not learn math, science, English or history. We start teaching them now 5 years behind the students of 1990.
Thus our decline.
America's failure in the Middle East did not come from weakness but rather from ignorant planning, ignorant planners and failure to learn from lessons like Vietnam, the Russian occupation of Afghanistan and the takeover of China, Cuba and Cambodia in the previous two generations. Rumsfeld and his advisors were uneducated, albeit degreed, and they led us to the worst foreign policy maneuvers in US history since the incredibly well degreed moron Robert McNamara of the Johnson era, who deliberately killed more Americans than any other US beauraucrat in history. We don't need those college degrees leading us.
America needs more common sense leaders like Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Truman and Reagan and fewer politicians like Nixon, Bush, Bush and "Jimma Cowtow".

OMG! When should I pack my belongings and where should I move to!? Will there be mass panic as a result of your Yahoo Answers posting!?

What qualifies you as a Middle East/American Studies expert? If I didn't know any better, I'd say you are a desperate Al-Jazeera minion futilely attempting to stop the inevitable...... The USA will prevail and outfight and outlast any foe on any continent at any time.

I don't think we are failing at all, our country is taking a look at the options and assessing the facts of the war.The people of this country voted democrat in the senate and house and this tells the President the country wants a change,he has to look at other options, personally I think its going to be ok,and our country will be fine remember were the only superpower left in the world and we have many many options left.

I think your possibility of us failing is possible. Don't get me wrong I love this country , but I cannot turn away blindly at her mistakes.

"The United States’ so called “Liberation” of Iraq displayed to the entire globe that mother America is a snake, but in contradiction, tactical prey. Bearing in mind the progress of the suicidal war, many obvious disadvantages had been overlooked because the politicians are strangling America’s military minds. The largest errors in how the US handled the Iraq campaign were, of course, the political influences, and the poor strategic planning. If the Iraqis had any chance of victory and the boldness to capitalize on American mistakes, both of those errors could have caused a major upset in the war. One must remember that it is not a commander’s brilliance that wins wars, but their ability to take advantage of the enemies oversights; they do not make their own victory; their adversary does that for them." - qoute from borisstudios.com

Well there will always be a USA, but it is changing from what it originally was united for...
Its sad that a place so diverce as America and beatiful in nature etc is falling apart from inside. Divorce rate is 60% now.. The traditional family valued life is gone. You dont know your neighbor, No respect for authority. Those that are in rule are lacking common sense.. The rich are getting nastier and richer, The poor are getting poorer. The jails and prisons are overflowing. Teens as young as 10,11 are getting pregnant. Drugs, crime, rape, etc etc.. and health.. America is the fattest country on earth.. If anything, they will just die off of health diseases due to obesity.

No, the U.S. isn't failing--far from it. We have our problems like every other country, but if you say we're failing just because of that, I'd guess you're either a Muslim or a close relative of Chicken Little.

Maybe we have failed to keep the leftists from spewing American hatred rhetoric. But as a whole we are the greatest country in the world.
