When I buy mostly anything, it is usually after careful research and price and quality comparisons.
For some things I find that the cheap stuff is just as well made as the more expensive item. Take for instance, coin and makeup purses for use in lady's handbags. My local Dollar store has a wonderful selection of matching sets of these, made of durable plasticized fabric (just as in the more expensive stores), but they cost a buck a piece. A savings of almost $15 from any other store.
But, then again, I paid $250 (on sale) for my winter anorak 5 years ago. It is made of glove-soft black leather, with a -20 F quilted lining. Even though I have worn this coat exclusively through five winters, it could pass for a new purchase. A higher priced coat at the time, but that has already paid for itself, in that I haven't had to replace it for five years, and will probably keep going for more than another five years.
I just love cheap hard plastic bright coloured bangles. I love the different looks I can achieve with the different colours. And I consider these a great buy, even though I paid less than $5 for each. But I also own a selection of gold bracelets--none of which are less than 18 carat. If I'm going to lay out the money, I want exceptional quality!
And I guess that is what motivates my shopping. I'm hoping to get a lot of wear out of everything I buy. But the stuff I buy cheaply is bought more for fun, and I won't be upset if I have to replace it in a year or two. The stuff I pay a lot of money for, I want to last almost forever. So I ALWAYS shop for the very BEST quality that I can afford, even going so far as to save up for a year to buy what I really want (as I did with the leather anorak).

I would also, rather save my money to buy one nice item rather than 5 cheap items. Even if you are getting only 1 specific thing, it will be much better quality most likely then when purchasing 5 cheap specific things. I agree with quality over quantity..!

I would rather buy lots of cheap stuff, many times the cheap stuff is just as good or even better than the expensive stuff.

In a perfect world I'd take lots of expensive stuff! But that aside I'm all about one expensive item over 6 tacky cheap ones.

It depends on what it is. I will splurge every once in a while for something I really like, but usually I'm looking for good deals. Not necessarily cheap stuff. I just don't like spending money I don't have.

maybe it does, but.. you know what, life's too short to worry about other people's opinions... I'm the same way!!! lol I also buy at those outlets, those brands are expensive for a reason you know (better quality) I always think about the quality, of everything, like food, clothes, my skin, even the air I breath... I'm gonna add you as a friend here on Yahoo

With Christmas coming that's a big debate. Me & my loved ones have set financial limits on how much we will spend on one another and me personally I would rather open 10 ($50) gifts then open 1 ($500) gift. But some prefer quanity to quality.

Same here...quality over quantity! Actually, not so much JUST an expensive brand but it has to be a reputable brand and something that I've tried and love.
