My brother-in-law is a serious art person and really into drawing and likes realism in his drawings. And I was wanting to get me a nice drawing and pencil set for Christmas. But the thing is, I have absolutely no idea what brand or type that I should be looking for. Anyone know any brands or have any ideas?

If you have an A C Moore craft store or a Micheal's Craft store. They often have sets that come in nice carrying cases. Sometimes you can get them on sale. They also have a variety of different kinds of paper for drawing w/ charcoal, pencil ,etc.

I've tried many different types of pencils and really I like regular pencils the most. I use lead pencils for the base of my drawings and mechanical pencils for details. But it really depends on what you like most. If you're looking for a more professional set of pencils I'd suggest Faber Castell Artist Quality Studio Graphite Sketch Pencil Set.

I would defnitely check out an arts and crafts store. The staff should be helpful. If he's a serious artist, try a specialty store that just sells art supplies. You can use yellowpages.com to search.

Since he is really an artist, and not just a craft person, you should check out art supply stores in your area. You should also look at this web site. It is geared more towards artists

Derwent or Faber-Castell are both very good brands and have some nice prepackaged sets.
