I am a chiropractor and it truely is an amazing profession. I have two small children and I'm just starting to build my practice. My patient's results have been amazing.
Last week I adjusted a friend of mine who had Carpel Tunnel Syndrome for over a year. She called me hours after her adjustment and said that her pain was gone. She actually cried tears of joy. All of my patients so far have had good experiences some better than others.
There are many different techniques that chiropractors practice. I only use the activator method. We use a very specific analysis and adjust the neccessary areas using a small handheld tool. It's very gentle but it gets the job done. I don't have to crack, twist or pop. To find an activator doctor in your area go to www.activator.com. You can also learn more about the technique there as well.
By the way, I have never hurt anyone using the activator. It was designed using the principles of physics. The activator is so fast that it requires less force.
Hope this helps. Good luck

The popularity of chiropractors in the US indicates that they are doing a good job. Otherwise, they would not be able to practice in a country where doctors dread malpractice lawsuits. I have never heard of a chiropractor being sued for wrong treatment.

We have to bear in mind that chiropractors are not doctors but therapists. They are very skilled in manipulating the spine and joints and cure many kinds of muscular pains.

Nerve-related pains are not easy to handle. I know a case where ultrasound massage did not work for sciatica pain for a person whose job demanded long hours of desk work. Sciatica is a very painful nerve condition which can develop when a nerve is pinched due to a compressed disk.

A person suffering from sciatica has trouble walking and suffers even when sitting with cushions propped behind the lower back. This requires through investigation. Ultrasound massage did not work but after the patient switched to a physiotherapist, specializing in acupuncture, the pain was gone in a few weeks.

My own doctor, who is has learned deep tissue massage, cured me of a nagging neck pain which I had for a long time. He loosened the “knotted” muscle on one side of my neck but, before starting, he warned me that it is going to hurt.

I had to bear the pain till he finished. Right after he finished, the pain was gone and I felt like a different person. For more than a year now I haven't had the pain. I hope that answers you twofold question whether the treatment can hurt or help you.

I had a bad experience 13 years ago with a chiropractor. I swore I would never go to one again. About 2 years ago, I was having numbness in my arms and hands. A friend, after several months, talked me into going to a chiropractor she was seeing. He really helped me! I see him occasionally for maintainance. If I am having neck or back pain, I call him and he fixes me up, sometimes it takes a few visits but it works. The results ar amazing. See a chiropractor who is recommended by a lot of people. It's just like getting a not-so-good physician compared to a good one.

Chiropractors have helped people in releiving them from pain when doctors could not. most insurance companies now cover Chiropractors costs as well as physical therpy. Insurance companies have figured it out that their care often gets a person back to work faster.
It is all in your personal case as to whether a Chiropractor can help you . some times a doctor will npt recommand a Chiropractor, and instead keep you coming to his office doing nothing but collecting on office visits.
Like all medical treatments you have to have faith in them, and sometimes they do fail , but nothing as serious as leaving scapals, scirrors, wadding, gloves, needles, notes ect inside patients as doctors routinely do ever year some where in america.
The Chiropractors got a bad rap years ago when they first started in small towns. They used the poor and ignorant as many professionals do such as lawyers. The would pay people to bring them patients.
I recall one woman who took a school bus load of patients to another city about 125 miles both ways twice a week, She took a car load in a station wagon 2 times a week once even on saturadays.
She collected from the doctors so much a head and from the patients.(this practice is alive and well in some places where you have aged and poor.
This is some of the things which gave them such a bad name for years , but Chiropractors now have earned respect, an do a good job or most of them.

For bone and muscle pain I understand you can't beat em.
Personally I have never tried buy one and didn't care for it. But too many sucess stories come out of their offices after doctors failed in releiving pain, for them not to be good.

I think chiropractic is a wonderful branch of medicine. It is definitely a lot more respected than it used to be.
Chiropractic manipulates the spine to bring balance back into the body.

I went for severe back and hip pain. I went for treatments for a few weeks before my back pain was all gone. I would definitely go back if the pain came back.

You should check the credentials of the chiropractor. Mine was covered by my insurance, (which is a good sign) and also his diplomas and all certifications were available to look at.

My experience did not favor chiropractors. What chiropractors failed to do in six months, and osteopathic surgeon and a physical therapist solved in two weeks. With far less money, and without the need for return visits.

Chiropractor are really very effective and good alternative treatment/medicine. Though i have experienced myself my friends have undergone the treatments and they are amazing.

Chiropractic is a complementary and alternative health care profession which focuses on diagnosing, treating, and preventing mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, their effects on the nervous system, and on general health. Chiropractic's premise is that spinal joint misalignments, which chiropractors call vertebral subluxations, can interfere with the nervous system and result in many different conditions of diminished health. In contrast, the term subluxation, as used in conventional medicine, is usually associated with specific conditions which are a direct consequence of injury to joints or associated nerves-.

i think it's just like many things: there are good ones and bad ones. the good ones can really help you feel better. the bad ones can turn you into a human question mark. i'd make sure you're going to a reputable chiropractor, one whose clientele continues to recommend him/her.

i love them, but actually out of 2 i've tried one has really helped more. he's amazing, he's into the natural stuff and still does it the hands-on way, not with the new machines and contraptions. i think of him as my doctor, not just my chiro because he knows so much more. dunno if all are like that (i doubt they are) but for injuries i go to him first. i'm sure chiros can hurt you but the good ones don't. and yes the treatments help me a lot.

I personally love going. I think alot of people have misconceptions about what they do. I go for my neck, back, and headaches....I use to go alot when my pain was bad, now just every now and then for a routine adjustment. I went the entire time I was pregnant, and even took my infant son a week after he was born.
