Okay so we got a new house. So in the basement we have the usual support poles and at the bottom theres that goey gunk to get it to stay in place or whatever.

So this stuff got on my rug...I cant get it out!?!?! What should help?

Like its just the gray gunk at the bottom of the pole..like its around the base...I think to keep it in place or something...sorry if that doesnt help

It's probably caulking. Get some Goof-Off or Goo Gone at your home improvement center. Dab a little on the spots, then dry-brush it out. Then, get some kraft paper and stick it to the caulking around the poles to keep it from being picked up in shoes again...

gooey gunk is probably grease from inside the support pipe. Try dawn soap on it and vacuum it up, may take several times. If that doesn't cut it. Go to K-mart and buy some stuff called Krudd Kutter, it will work.

Assuming that it is caulking I would use goo gone on it and then when that has loosened the substance sprinkle it with talcum powder to absorb the moisture then vacuum it up. I would give it a final clean with Wool-lite oxy deep.

what kind of gooey gunk? poles are usually cemented in place.. is this whats on your floor?
